Short: Closing the Should Gap

Feeling stuck is the difference between the reality you’ve created in your head and your actions.

Somewhere in that mind of yours, you have thoughts and beliefs about what your life “should” look like and what that will mean.

Success should mean making lots of money.

A good relationship should mean lots of sex.

Being a good parent should mean my kids are smart.

Being sexy means I should lose 20 pounds.

But your objective reality and daily actions don’t look like that. There’s a gap between where you are today and the future you “should” want.

You might be taking no action at all or you might be taking lots of action, but not in service of anything that matters.

When you notice the “should gap”, you experience stuckness.

This might come in sadness, shame, guilt, confusion, anger, or any equally unpleasant feelings.

Want to know a secret? You are the solution to your stuckness. At any point, you get to choose to move from that stuckness.

It’s very simple because you only have two options, but it's not easy.

Change your beliefs, change your actions, or better yet, do both.

Once you realize how much power you truly have over your stuckness, you’ll never be stuck again—at least not for too long.

And once you start taking aligned action, you’ll wonder how you were even stuck in the first place.

Pick one area where you feel stuck and unstick it now by creating a new belief and taking aligned actions. I’ll wait. Hit reply and tell me about it.

Don’t overthink this. You know what needs to happen.

With love,

Adam
